Mary Berman writes mostly – but not exclusively – fantasy and science fiction, both adult and YA. She is a third-year MFA candidate in fiction at the University of Mississippi, has a BA in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins University, and studied English at St. Anne's College at the University of Oxford.
During the day she works as the Graduate Assistant Director of the Writing Center at the University of Mississippi, where she has also taught freshman composition and fiction workshop. She has volunteered as co-host of the Broken English Reading Series in Oxford, Mississippi, and as the logistics coordinator for BinderCon New York, a writing conference aimed at rectifying the gender imbalance in publishing, journalism, and entertainment media. She is an Associate Member of SFWA, a member of the Codex Writers' Forum, and a first reader for the interactive fiction magazine sub-Q.
In her spare time, Mary practices taekwondo and antagonizes her cat.
