Mary Berman is a Philadelphia-based writer.
Her debut, UNTIL DEATH, a literary horror novel about the wedding industrial complex, is out now from Little, Brown.
She earned her MFA in creative writing from the University of Mississippi, where she was a Graduate Excellence Fellow. She also holds a BA in Writing Seminars from Johns Hopkins University.
She was a member of the final Pitch Wars class in 2021, and in 2022, she attended the Viable Paradise workshop. That same year, she won the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Scholarship for female horror writers. In 2024, she attended the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference.
Additionally, she has co-hosted the Broken English Reading Series in Oxford, Mississippi; taught undergraduate and adult fiction workshops; served as the Logistics Chair for the New York writers’ conference BinderCon; and read slush for the interactive fiction magazine sub-Q. She currently teaches classes for the Philly nonprofit Blue Stoop, the MetroWest Writers’ Guild, and A Writing Room.
In her spare time, she takes fitness classes and antagonizes her cat.
